The 2013 Porsche Cayenne GTS is a high-performance luxury SUV developed to deliver the driving dynamics and engineering characteristics associated with Porsche's sports cars while retaining the versatility of a five-passenger utility vehicle. Positioned between the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo, the GTS emphasizes naturally aspirated V8 performance, sharper handling, and distinctive motorsport-inspired styling. Its exterior features a more aggressive front fascia derived from the Cayenne Turbo, enlarged air intakes, extended side skirts, a roof-mounted rear spoiler, and black exterior accents. The GTS also features a sport-oriented interior with supportive seating and driver-focused instrumentation, distinguishing it from the more comfort-oriented Cayenne models.

Power is supplied by a 4.8-liter naturally aspirated DOHC 32-valve V8 engine producing 420 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive. Featuring direct fuel injection and variable valve timing, the GTS engine produces 20 additional horsepower over the contemporary Cayenne S and delivers its power through a sport-tuned drivetrain with revised transmission programming. The GTS also features a standard sport exhaust system designed to produce a more pronounced V8 exhaust note. Porsche quoted a 0–60 mph acceleration time of approximately 5.4 seconds for the 2013 Cayenne GTS, reflecting its emphasis on performance despite its substantial size and utility.

The GTS receives a specially tuned chassis incorporating Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and a lowered sport suspension, providing electronically controlled damping and improved body control during spirited driving. The PASM system continuously adjusts damping force according to road conditions and driving style, while selectable driving modes allow the driver to prioritize comfort or more responsive handling. This example is further equipped with the Sport Chrono Package Plus, which adds additional performance-oriented functionality, including a dashboard-mounted stopwatch, Sport Plus driving mode, and enhanced transmission and engine response for more aggressive driving. Together, these systems give the GTS a distinctly sportier character than the standard Cayenne.
