The 2008 Ford Taurus X SEL is a three-row crossover SUV known for its exceptionally spacious interior, comfortable ride, flexible seating arrangements, and car-like driving characteristics. Originally introduced as the Ford Freestyle, the vehicle was renamed the Taurus X for 2008 and received substantial mechanical and styling updates. Its wagon-inspired design combines the passenger and cargo versatility of a traditional SUV with a lower step-in height and more manageable proportions. Built on Ford's D3 platform, derived from Volvo architecture, the Taurus X features a long wheelbase, upright roofline, and generous glass area, providing excellent outward visibility and ample headroom throughout the cabin. Its three-row configuration accommodates up to seven passengers, while the folding rear seats allow the interior to be adapted for larger cargo loads.

Power is supplied by a 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve Duratec V6 engine producing 263 horsepower and 249 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. Introduced to the Taurus X for 2008, this powertrain replaced the previous Freestyle's 3.0-liter V6 and continuously variable transmission, delivering a substantial increase in horsepower and more responsive acceleration. The 3.5-liter V6 features an aluminum-alloy block and cylinder heads, electronic fuel injection, and variable camshaft timing. The six-speed automatic transmission provides a wider selection of gear ratios for smoother acceleration and more relaxed highway cruising.

The SEL trim offers a practical combination of comfort, convenience, and passenger accommodations, including a power-adjustable driver's seat, climate control, cruise control, remote keyless entry, and Ford's SecuriCode exterior keyless entry keypad. This example is equipped with the SYNC Bluetooth hands-free phone system, an AM/FM/CD audio system with an auxiliary input, roof rails, a tow package, and 17-inch eight-spoke machined aluminum wheels. Its third-row seating and folding rear seats provide additional flexibility for passengers and cargo. This Taurus X has had just two owners, including a previous owner who kept it for 16 years, and has remained Texas-owned since new.
