The 2006 Chevrolet HHR is a retro-styled, front-wheel-drive compact wagon and crossover launched for the 2006 model year. It was General Motors' direct response to the popular Chrysler PT Cruiser, and both vehicles were notably designed by the same automotive designer, Bryan Nesbitt.

The exterior styling of the HHR draws heavy inspiration from late 1940s and early 1950s Chevrolet vehicles, particularly the 1949 Chevrolet Suburban and Advanced Design trucks. Underneath its retro sheet metal, the HHR is built on GM's Delta platform, meaning it shares its mechanical DNA, chassis, and driving characteristics with the Chevrolet Cobalt and Saturn Ion.

The 2LT was the top-of-the-line trim level for the model year, and bundled the vehicle's most powerful engine option with an upgraded FE3 sport-tuned suspension and a variety of high-end convenience features. Standard amenities include a 260-watt, 7-speaker Pioneer Premium Audio System with a rear subwoofer, 8-way power driver's seat, AUX audio, remote engine start, and 17-inch aluminum wheels, as well as an optional power sunroof, heated leather seating, OnStar, and SiriusXM radio.

Power is delivered by a 2.4-liter Ecotec inline 4-cylinder producing 172 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque, and routed to the front wheels via a 5-speed automatic transaxle.
