The E70 X5 M was only offered in North America from 2010 to 2013 and was the first sport-utility vehicle produced by BMW M. In addition to a more powerful engine, the M variant sported several enhancements over the standard X5, including M Dynamic Stability Control, Cornering Brake Control, Electronic Damping Control, and Dynamic Brake Control.

Power comes from a 4.4-liter S63B44 twin-turbocharged V8, rated at 555 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to all four wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.
